BEIJING, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday sent a congratulatory message to James Pitia Morgan on his assuming office as South Sudan's minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation.
Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that China and South Sudan enjoy friendly relations.
During the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in September 2024, Chinese President Xi Jinping held a fruitful meeting with his South Sudanese counterpart, Salva Kiir, which charted the course for the development of bilateral ties, Wang noted.
Wang said he stands ready to work with Morgan to follow through on the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen communication and coordination between the two foreign ministries, and push for greater development of the China-South Sudan strategic partnership.
