Chinese FM congratulates Sudanese FM on assuming office

BEIJING, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Wednesday sent a congratulatory message to Mohi El-Din Salem on his assuming office as Sudanese minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said in the message that China and Sudan share a profound traditional friendship and have always trusted and supported each other since establishing diplomatic ties more than 60 years ago.

During the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Beijing Summit last year, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Chairman of Sudan's Sovereignty Council Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, providing strategic guidance for the development of the bilateral relations, Wang said.

Noting that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the strategic partnership between China and Sudan, Wang said he is willing to work with Salem to fully implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen communication and coordination between the two foreign ministries, and continuously advance the development of the China-Sudan strategic partnership.
