RABAT, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Moroccan King Mohammed VI has granted a pardon to 1,243 prisoners, the official news agency MAP reported Friday.

The 1,243 people, some in prison and others on bail, were pardoned on Friday that marked 22 years of the Moroccan king on the throne, MAP said.

Morocco had announced that all activities, festivities and ceremonies on the occasion of the Throne Day would be postponed over the concern of the COVID-19 pandemic.

King Mohammed VI will deliver a speech to the nation on Saturday evening.
